Original logbook of the Albatross covering station numbers Dr 2859 to 2869, Hyd 1481 to 1569, recorded 27 August to 23 September 1888. Data recorded include station number (no.), date, machine, turns, correction, depth, shot or lead, bottom, bottom temperature, number of thermometer, correction, corrected temperature, air temperature, surface temperature, drift, trawl or dredge, sounding wire readings, dredge rope readings, serial temperatures, and general remarks. Some notes on specimens caught are included. Table of abbreviations is pasted into the front of the book; correction table is pasted into the back of the book. Localities are not listed in this volume, but the albatross was probably traveling in Pacific Ocean between San Francisco and Alaska (based on the history of the ship's activities)
